Karen Wilder-Bushey

Grades 4-6 Teacher, ES

Karen Wilder-Bushey begins her school year at Braddock Elementary School with many years
of experience in the classroom and administration. Ms. WIlder-Bushey earned a BS in
Interdisciplinary Studies and an MS in Elementary and Middle Education from Old Dominion
University in Norfolk, VA. Her teaching experience has been in both private and public schools
in Virginia Beach, VA and Oakton,VA, having taught a variety of grades, third through sixth. As
Dean of Students at Pinnacle Academy in Oakton, Ms. WIlder-Bushey assisted the Principal
and Vice Principal, introduced and developed curriculum, mentored new teachers, and was
instrumental in securing accreditation for the school.
Ms. Wilder-Bushey is originally from Virginia Beach, VA. She lives with her husband Denis
Bushey and her two sons, Ian and Sebastian, and two cats, Monaco and Cleopatra, in
Annandale. In her spare time she loves to read books and go to the beach. She and her family
also like to travel (she has been to 5 out of seven continents so far!) and they also have an
amateur racing team that takes them to race tracks around the east coast of the United States.
Ms. Wilder-Bushey is excited about the new school year, especially meeting new families and
creating positive relationships with the students in her classroom family and community.
