Judith Swoboda is the Reading Specialist of Braddock Elementary School.  She was born in New Jersey, grew up in Massachusetts, and has lived in Virginia for 30 years.  She got her B.A. in Elementary Education at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and Master of Arts in Education from the Reading, Language and Literacy Program at William and Mary.  She has taught third and fifth grade in Newport News, first grade and Reading Recovery in Williamsburg, and was a Literacy Collaborative Coach at Mount Vernon Woods in Fairfax County for 5 years.  She became the Reading Specialist at Braddock in 2014.  She provides professional development, coaches teachers on their literacy education, facilitates Literacy CLTs, analyzes literacy data, serves as the Lead Mentor, and works with students who need extra support. She lives with her two adult sons, Carl and Ben, and loves to read, swim, and go for bike rides.  She loves to share her passion for literacy education with all of the students, staff and families of Braddock Elementary School.
