Congratulations to Lead Special Education Teacher Eva Reissis on being recognized as the December 2021 FCPS Cares Recipient of the Month for Region 2 by the Department of Human Resources. Congratulations, Ms. Reissis!

Below is the write up submitted by Ms. Holly Dowling, Assistant Principal.

Eva Reissis, Lead Special Education Teacher at Braddock Elementary School for many years in the capacity of a non-cat teacher and now in her current role of Lead Special Education Teacher. Eva goes above and beyond in everything she does every day for students and staff. Her knowledge in Special Education and Student Behaviors is extensive. She is a resource for anyone who needs it, including her administrative team. Her commitment to the success of every child is evident in her high expectations, her behind the scenes support, and the countless hours she spends reviewing IEPs, drafting documents, communicating with families, observing teachers, and working with students. When you walk towards her office you will always find either a student or a teacher in there getting advice, taking a break, or working with her on a task. This year we have a new Mental Health Team and Eva has been able to support them through the 504 process, crisis responses, and connecting the team with outside resources and professional developments. When you sit down to speak with Eva, you know that you have her full attention, she is a great listener and problem solver. She sees each student and staff member as an individual and differentiates her responses, support, and overall demeanor to meet their needs. It is hard to put into words the amount of work and support Eva gives to our staff and students each day. She has an enormous heart and a drive to get the job done like no one else. She responds to text messages about deadlines and IEP language at all hours, and if you ask any one of the Braddock Special Education Teachers about Eva, they rattle off all the amazing things she does to support them. We are so thankful to have Eva here at Braddock Elementary School.
