Friday, May 24th, 2024 will always be a memorable day for our Braddock Elementary Student Leadership Academy Ambassadors. The Ambassadors traveled to Mason Neck State Park in Lorton, Virginia to plant Celery Grass as a part of the "Grasses for the Masses" program.

The "Grasses for the Masses" program provides the opportunity for students and other organizations interested in restoring the health of waters of the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia rivers. Our Ambassadors grew the grass at school from February to May and transplanted them in Belmont Bay. This grass will to help build up the underwater environment to protect the animals as well as provide more filtering plants to sustain the environment. It was a wonderful experience! Students learned a great deal about the importance of taking care of our environment and provided meaningful connections to the FCPS Science Curriculum and Get 2 Green Initiative.
