Congratulations to Title 1 Resource Teacher Renee Brown on being recognized as the December 2019/January 2020 FCPS Cares Recipient of the Month for Region 2 by the Department of Human Resources. Congratulations, Ms. Brown!

Below is the write up submitted by Ms. Joyce Matthews, a colleague of Ms. Brown.

Renee Brown is truly a PHENOMENAL Teacher!  Thanks to Renee Brown, Reading Specialist at Braddock Elementary, close to sixty Second Grade students have their own personal Reading Buddy! For the second year in a row, students at Braddock Elementary are participating in READERS AS LEADERS with students at Annandale HS. The Annandale HS Girls Basketball Team and students from the National English Honor Society have TEAMED up to provide support in Reading for sixty Second Grade students! Second Graders are thoroughly enjoying their Reading Buddy Time each week after school! Thanks to Renee Brown, the Second Graders and High School students are forming a Beautiful Partnership!  All students are enjoying participating in the Readers As Leaders Program!  Ms. Brown has spent long hours selecting students, selecting appropriate books for ALL students, organizing lists for teachers and contacting parents to ensure students will be able to stay after school to meet with their Reading Buddy. Some students and parents are enjoying this partnership so much that they are asking to stay on multiple days to practice their reading skills! Ms. Brown makes sure every student has the appropriate books to read with their buddy. Ms. Brown sends reminder notes and messages to students, parents, and teachers. It is the EXTRA Care and Attention to ensuring ALL of the students will be well prepared and successful in their Reading Sessions that is truly "Making A Difference" for students and their Buddies! This program would NOT be a SUCCESS without the EXTRA Time, Care and Attention Ms. Brown provides to ensuring the Second Graders will make progress in Reading!  Thank You, Renee Brown!
